Kollam Vishnathukavu Bhagavathi Temple – Festival

Kollam Vishnathukavu Bhagavathi temple is located at Thirumullavaram in Kollam, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali. The 10-day annual festival in the temple begins on Medam 1 and concludes on Medam 10 (Pathamudayam day).

This is a typical Bhagavathy temple with a chuttambalam, chathura sreekovil, namaskara mandapam, pond, kodimaram and shrines of upa devatas.

The annual festival is famous for caparisoned elephants, melam, colorful procession, dance, music, drama and traditional performing temple art forms of Kerala. Shakti temple pujas and rituals based on Shaketya and Tantra are performed here. Kettukazhcha, Kala and Kuthiras are part of the annual festival.

The shrine also observes Navratri with Ezhuthiniruthu and Thrikarthika in Vrischika Masam. Mandala Kalam is observes with various pujas, vilakku and rituals.
