Aroormuzhy Ayyappa temple is located at Aroormuzhy, around 22 km east of Chalakudy, in Thrissur district, Kerala. This small but beautiful shrine is set on the backdrop of Athirapally – Sholayar forest.
The temple comes alive especially during the 2 month long mandala makaravilakku season (Mid November to mid January). Thousands of Ayyappa devotees visit the temple during the period.
The annual festival in the temple is held in Dhanu Masam (December – January). The 7-day festival concludes on the Makaravilakku day. Kerala temple arts and traditional music are part of the week-long festival. Important rituals associated with Sastha temples in Kerala are performed during the period.
