Mambra Mahadeva Temple - Kallur Thekkummuri Near Koratty - History

Mambra Mahadeva Temple is located at Mambra (near Kallur Thekkummuri) around 7 km south of Koratty in Thrissur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Shiva. The temple was a Mahakshetram during ancient times. The Shivling worshipped in the temple is considerably big.

The sankalpam of Shiva in the temple is that of Keerata Murthy. The darshanam of Mambra Mahadeva is towards east.

The Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple are Ganapathy, Goddess Parvathi, Sastha, Brahma Rakshas and Nagam.

As per history, Adi Shankaracharya had performed darshanam in the temple. The temple during ancient times had a three tier vatta sreekovil (a 3 storied circular sanctum sanctorum). Currently the prathishta is on a square sanctum on the base of the old circular sanctum sanctorum. Earlier Vishu Pooram was held in the temple.

The main festival in the temple is Prathishta Dinam.
