Ksheerabdi Dwadasi 2024 date – Importance And Hindu Religious Significance Of Ksheerabdhi Dwadashi

Ksheerabdi Dwadasi is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Ksheerabdi Dwadasi 2024 date is November 13. It is observed on the 12th day of the Shukla Paksha, or waxing phase of moon, in Kartik Month. Tulsi plant is worshipped on the Ksheerabdhi Dwadashi day.

Dhatri Havan and Tulasi Kalyanam are observed on the day.

A legend associated with the day suggests that after Chatur Masa, Srihari Vishnu wakes up on the Ekadasi day and visits the people on earth on the Ksheerabdi Dwadasi day.

Tulsi plant and Amla Tree are worshipped on the day. The day is also the first day of Tulsi Vivah Puja in many regions.

Ksheerabdi Dwadasi is also dedicated to the worship of Goddess Lakshmi and she is worshipped along with coins on the day.

The Prabodhini Ekadasi fast which began on the previous day ends on the morning of Ksheerabdi Dwadasi.

There is a widespread belief that Srihari Vishnu who goes to sleep on Ashada Shukla Paksha Ekadasi wakes up on Kartik Shukla Paksha Ekadasi. He then first visits the Tulsi plant. This is the reason why Tulsi is worshipped on the day.

Ksheerabdi is also the term used to refer to the milky ocean on which Srihari Vishnu resides. Bhagavan sleeps on the coils of serpent Ananta Sesha who lies on the waters of the milky ocean.

Another popular belief is that Goddess Lakshmi married Bhagavan Vishnu on the day. This is based on the belief that She appeared during the Samudra Manthan or churning of ocean mentioned in the Puranas. After appearing she decided to reside in the heart of Srihari Vishnu.
