Sringeri witnesses a magnificent celebration of during Navratri each year. Goddess Sharadamba (a form of Goddess Saraswati, the deity of arts, music and learning) the presiding deity of Sri Sharadamba Temple graces her devotees with divine blessings, adorned in special Alankaram each 9 day of the festival. Navratri Festival 2026 date at Sringeri Sri Sharadamba Temple is from October 11 to October 20, 2026.
The reigning Jagadguru Shankaracharya performs a special
puja to Goddess Sharadamba at noon. A highlight of Sharan Navaratri is the
nightly Darbar, a tradition dating back to the era of Jagadguru Shankaracharya
Sri Vidyaranya.
The Darbar commences with the Jagadguru Shankaracharya,
resplendent in royal attire, leading a procession in front of the Golden Ratha
carrying Goddess Sharadambad. Following the Rathotsava, the Jagadguru assumes
his seat on the Golden Throne, facing the divine presence of Goddess
Sharadamba. The evening's devotional program includes the chanting of
Saptashati, Ashtavadana Seva, and Aarti.
A special Shata Chandi Homam is conducted during Navratri,
along with Veda Parayanam, Valmiki Ramayana Reading, Sri Devi Bhagavatam Reading,
Suvasini puja, Kanya puja, Laksharchanai, and numerous other sacred rituals.
