Kizhunna Melattu Mandappan Kavu temple, also known as Kizhunna Kathivanoor Veeran Devasthanam, is located at Mundayad in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Kathivanoor Veeran. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for three days in Malayalam Meena Masam – March last week.
Important theyyams that can be witnessed at Kizhunna Melattu
Mandappan Kavu temple are Gurikkal theyyam, Kathivanoor Veeran theyyam,
Kuttichathan theyyam and Thekkan Gulikan theyyam.
This a small shrine with a chathura sreekovil. The roof of
the shrine is decorated with traditional temple motifs. There are raised
platforms for other deities. Certain deities are worshipped under trees.
Sankranti in every month is of great importance.
