Thulichery Mavila Nambiancheri Kalaristhanam Temple – Kaliyattam Theyyam Thira Festival

Thulichery Mavila Nambiancheri Kalaristhanam temple is located at Thulicheri in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Bhagavathy and numerous other deities that are worshipped in kavu, tharavadu and in sacred places in the region. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for three days in Malayalam Kumbha Masam – first Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Kumbha Masam (Mid February).


This is a small shrine attached to a bigger house like structure. There are other smaller structures for other deities including small square raised platforms. Some deities are worshipped under trees.

The main theyyams that can be witnessed at Thulichery Maavila Nambiancheri Kalaristhanam temple are Vishnumoorthi theyyam, Vettakkorumakan theyyam, Pookkutti Sasthappan theyyam, Padaveeran theyyam, Uchitta theyyam, Thai Paradevata theyyam, Sasthappan or Kuttichathan theyyam, Bhairavan theyyam, Gulikan theyyam, Karuval theyyam, Bhootham theyyam and Nagakanya theyyam.
