Pandaravalappil Tharavadu Devasthanam Temple – Theyyam Kaliyattam Thira Festival

Pandaravalappil Tharavadu Devasthanam temple is located at Vengara in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Puthiya Bhagavathy, Vayanattu Kulavan and other deities. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for two days in Malayalam Kumbha Masam – Kumbham 15 to Kumbham 16 (February 28 to March 1).

Important theyyams that can be witnessed at Pandaravalappil Tharavadu Devasthanam temple are Vayanattu Kulavan theyyam, Vishnumoorthi theyyam, Kurathi theyyam and Puthiya Bhagavathi theyyam.

This is a small beautiful Kerala style temple with traditional architecture. There is a chathura sreekovil for the main deity. There are also small sreekovils and square platforms for worshipping subsidiary deities. Some deities are worshipped under trees. Sankranti in every Malayalam month is of great importance here.
