Muchiriyan Vayanattu Kulavan temple is located in Azhikode South in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Vayanattu Kulavan and other deities. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for two days in Malayalam Kumbha Masam – Kumbham 8 to Kumbham 9 (February 20 to Feb 21).
The important theyyams that can be witnessed at Muchiriyan Vayanattu Kulavan temple are Gulikan theyyam, Elladathu Bhagavathy theyyam, Bappiriyan theyyam, Vayanattu Kulavan theyyam and Puliyoor Kannand theyyam.
This is a small shrine with a chathura sreekovil – square
sanctum sanctorum. Some deities are worshipped on square platforms and under
trees. The roof and walls of the main shrine are decorated with traditional
temple motifs. Sankranti in every month is of great significance.
