Thulucheri Kummanar Kalari Devasthanam Temple – Theyyam Thira Kaliyattam Festival

Thulucheri Kummanar Kalari Devasthanam temple is located at Thulucheri in Kottachery in Kasaragod district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Bhootham, Bhagavathy and Chamundi. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for four days in Malayalam Thula Masam – Thulam 28 to Thulam 31 (October 28 to October 31).

Important theyyams that can be witnessed at Thulucheri Kummanar Kalari Devasthanam temple are Anjanangal Bhootham, Cheriya Bhagavathy, Dhandiyanganathu Bhagavathi, and Kundor Chamundi theyyam.

This is a small temple with a chathura sreekovil for the main deity. The roof of the shrine is traditionally decorated. There are other smaller sreekovils and raised platforms for other deities. Some deities are worshipped under trees. Sankranti in a Malayalam month is of great importance. There is a beautiful pond attached to the temple.
