Thangayam Kambrath Tharavadu Devasthanam Temple – Theyyam Thira Kaliyattam Festival

Thangayam Kambrath Tharavadu Devasthanam temple is located at Thangayam near Trikaripur in Kasaragod district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathy, Chamundi, Vishnumoorthi and other deities. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for two days in Malayalam Thula Masam – Thulam 13 to Thulam 14 (October 29 to October 30).

Important theyyams that can be witnessed at Thangayam Kambrath Tharavadu Devasthanam temple are Kanakkara Bhagavathi theyyam, Karanavar theyyam, Madayil Chamundi theyyam, Raktha Chamundi theyyam and Vishnumoorthi theyyam.

This is a small family-maintained shrine with a chathura sreekovil for the main deity. The roof of the shrine is traditionally decorated. There are other smaller sreekovils and raised platforms for other deities. Some deities are worshipped under trees. Sankranti in a Malayalam month is of great importance.
