Pariyaram Kottiyoor Nanmadom temple is located at Pariyaram in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Puli Daivangal, Gulikan, Chamundi, Vishnumoorthi and related deities that are commonly worshipped in kavu and tharavadu in the region. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for four days in Malayalam Vrischikam Month – Vrischikam 8 to Vrischikam 11 (November 23 to November 26).
The important theyyams that can be witnessed at Pariyaram Kottiyoor Nanmadam temple are Karinthiri Nair theyyam, Kanda Puli theyyam, Mara Puli theyyam, Pulimaruthan theyyam, Puliyoor Kannan theyyam, Puli Kandan theyyam, Puliyoor Kali theyyam, Pulli karinkali theyyam, Gulikan, Vishnumoorthi and Raktha Chamundi theyyam.
This is a small temple with a chathura sreekovil – square sanctum
sanctorum – for the main deity. The shrine has a decorated roof with
traditional motifs. Certain deities are worshipped atop square platforms and
under trees. Important pujas are performed here on Sankranti day which falls in
the middle of a month as per Malayalam calendar.
The shrine is an important Gulikan sthanam in the region.
Special pujas and rituals associated with Gulikan are performed here. Thekkan Gulikan
is also worshipped here.
