Nambally Pothiyodam Muchilottu Kavu temple is located at Namballi near Thalassery in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Muchilot Bhagavathi. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held in Malayalam Makara Masam – Makaram 24 to Makaram 26 (February 7 to Feb 9).
Important theyyams that can be witnessed at Namballi Pothiyodam Muchilottu Kavu temple are Muchilottu Bhagavathi theyyam, Vishnumoorthi theyyam and Narambil Bhagavathy theyyam.
This is a small shrine with a chathura sreekovil for the
main deity. The roof of the shrine is traditionally decorated. There are other
smaller sreekovils and raised platforms for other deities. Certain deities are
worshipped under trees. Sankranti in a Malayalam month is of great importance.
