Moothachivalappu Sree Thondachan Devasthanam Temple – Theyyam Kaliyattam Thira Festival

Kannapuram Moothachivalappu Sree Thondachan Devasthanam temple is located at Kannapuram in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Thondachan Daivam and other related deities. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for four days in Malayalam Thula Masam – Thulam 13 to Thulam 16 (October 29 to November 1).

The important theyyams that can be witnessed at Moothachivalappu Sree Thondachan Devasthanam temple are Thondachan Daivam, Gulikan, Vayanattu Kulavan and Kandanarkelan theyyam.

The temple has a chathura sreekovil for the main deities. Some deities are worshipped atop square platform and under trees. There are other smaller sreekovils. Sankranti in every Malayalam month is of great importance in the temple.
