Kayyoor Pulingathu Tharavadu Devasthanam Temple – Theyyam Thira Kaliyattam Festival

Kayyoor Pulingathu Tharavadu Devasthanam temple is located at Kayyur in Kasaragod district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Bhagavathy, Chamundi, and Vishnumurthy. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for two days in Malayalam Thula Masam – Thulam 26 to Thulam 27 (November 11 to November 12).

Important theyyams that can be witnessed at Kayyoor Pulingat Tharavadu Devasthanam temple are Cheralath Bhagavathi theyyam, Raktha Chamundi theyyam, Padarkulangara Bhagavathi theyyam, Mecheri Chamundi theyyam and Vishnumoorthi theyyam.

This is a small temple with a chathura sreekovil for the main deity. The roof of the shrine is traditionally decorated. There are other smaller sreekovils and raised platforms for other deities. Some deities are worshipped under trees. Sankranti in a Malayalam month is of great importance. There is a beautiful pond attached to the temple.
