Kalarikkavu Chamundi Temple, also known as Periyatt Chamundi Temple, is located at Kadannappalli in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Chamundi and numerous other deities. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for two days in Malayalam Dhanu Masam – Dhanu 21 and Dhanu 22 (January 4 to January 5).
Important theyyams that can be witnessed at Kalarikkavu Chamundi temple are Periyattu Chamundi theyyam, Kakkara Bhagavathy theyyam and Vishnumoorthi theyyam.
This is a small shrine with a chathura sreekovil for the
main deity. The roof of the shrine is traditionally decorated. There are other
smaller sreekovils and raised platforms for other deities. Sankranti in a
Malayalam month is of great importance.
