Alanthatta Puthiyadathara Devasthanam temple is located at Alanthatta in Kasaragod district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Bhagavathy, Chamundi, Pulikandan and Vishnumurthy. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for three days in Malayalam Dhanu Masam – Dhanu 5 to Dhanu 7 (December 21 to December 23).
Important theyyams that can be witnessed at Alanthatta Puthiyadathara Devasthanam temple are Vishnumoorthi theyyam, Kanakkara Bhagavathi theyyam, Pulikandan theyyam, Oorpazhassi theyyam, Mecheri Chamundi theyyam and Madayil Chamundi theyyam.
This is a small temple with a chathura sreekovil for the
main deity. The roof of the shrine is traditionally decorated. There are other
smaller sreekovils and raised platforms for other deities. Some deities are
worshipped under trees. Sankranti in a Malayalam month is of great importance.
