Thalichalam Kunniyoor Tharavadu Devasthanam Temple – Kaliyattam Theyyam Thira Festival

Thalichalam Kunniyoor Tharavadu Devasthanam temple is located at Thalichalam near Trikaripur in Kasaragod district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Chamundi, Vishnumoorthi, Bhagavathy and other deities worshipped in kavu and tharavadu in the region. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for two days in Malayalam Thula Masam – Thulam 29 to Thulam 30 (November 15 to November 16).

The important theyyams that can be witnessed at Thalichalam Kunniyoor Tharavadu Devasthanam temple are Vishnumoorthi theyyam, Ankakkulangara Bhagavathy theyyam, Raktha Chamundi theyyam and Pottan theyyam.

The temple has a chathura sreekovil (square sanctum sanctorum) for the main deity. Some deities are worshipped atop small square platforms and under trees. The temple performs special pujas and rituals on Sankranti day. This is a family maintained private temple.
