Pathayakkunnu Muthedathu Velluva Devasthanam Temple – Theyyam Thira Kaliyattam Festival

Pathayakkunnu Muthedathu Velluva Devasthanam temple is located at Pathayakunnu near Pattayam in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to deities that are commonly worshipped in tharavadu, kavu and sacred places in Kannur region. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for two days in Malayalam Vrischika Masam – Vrischikam 22 to Vrischikam 23 (December 7 to December 8).

Important theyyams that can be witnessed at Pathayakkunnu Muthedathu Velluva Devasthanam temple are Kuttichathan theyyam, Vishnumoorthi theyyam and Gulikan theyyam.

This a family-maintained temple with a small chathura sreekovil – square sanctum sanctorum. Some deities are worshipped on small square platforms and under trees. Pujas are held mainly during Sankranti and Vishu.
