Padinhattam Kozhuval Nayaracham Tharavadu Devasthanam Temple – Theyyam Kaliyattam Thira Festival

Padinhattam Kozhuval Nayaracham Tharavadu Devasthanam temple is located at Padinhattam Kozhuval in Kasaragod district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Bhagavathi and other popular deities worshipped in kavu and tharavadu in the region. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for two days in Malayalam Vrischika Masam – Vrischikam 20 and Vrischikam 21 (December 5 and December 6).

The important theyyams that can be witnessed at Padinhattam Kozhuval Nayaracham Tharavadu Devasthanam temple are Chooliyar Bhagavathy theyyam, Gulikan theyyam, Moovalamkuzhi Chamundi theyyam, Padaveeran theyyam, Vishnumoorthi theyyam and Kammadathamma theyyam.

The temple has a chathura sreekovil (square sanctum sanctorum) for the main deity. Some deities are worshipped atop small square platforms and under trees. The temple performs special pujas and rituals on Sankranti day. This is a family maintained private temple.
