Vadakkan Makkool Bhagavathi temple is located on the Kuthuparamba - Valiyavelicham -Cheruvanchery Rd at Cheruvanchery in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathy. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for two days in Malayalam Dhanu Masam – Dhanu 24 and Dhanu 25 (January 8 and January 9). The temple is famous for the rare Chuvanna Gulikan theyyam (അപൂർവ്വ തെയ്യം ചുവന്ന ഗുളികൻ കെട്ടിയാടുന്ന സ്ഥലം).

The temple has a square sanctum sanctorum (chathura sreekovil) for the main deity. The other deities are worshipped in small sanctums, atop uncovered small raised platforms and under trees. Sankranti (which falls in the middle of English month) in every month as per Malayalam calendar is of great importance here.

The important theyyams that can be witnessed at Vadakkan Makkul Bhagavathi temple are Cheriya Bhagavathy, Valiya Bhagavathy and Chuvanna Gulikan.
