Kanul Anayottu Puthiya Bhagavathy temple is located at Kanool near Taliparamba in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Puthiya Bhagavathy. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for two days in Malayalam Kumbha Masam – Kumbham 19 and Kumbham 20 (March 3 and March 4).
The important theyyams that can be witnessed at Kanul Anayottu Puthiya Bhagavathi temple are Puthiya Bhagavathy theyyam, Padarkulangara Bhagavathi theyyam, Thai Paradevatha theyyam, Thamburatti theyyam, Veera Kali theyyam and Veeran theyyam.
The temple has a chathura sreekovil (square sanctum
sanctorum) for the main deity. The walls and roof of the small temple are
decorated with traditional motifs. Some deities are worshipped atop small
square platforms and under trees. The temple performs special pujas and rituals
on Sankranti day.
