Annur Mundayangattu temple is located at Annur near Payyanur in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi and Vishnumoorthi theyyam. The annual thira theyyam kaliyattam festival is held for two days in Malayalam Dhanu Masam – Dhanu 8 to Dhanu 9 (December 24 to December 25).
The important theyyams that can be witnessed at Annur Mundayangattu
temple are Vishnumoorthi theyyam, Rakta Chamund theyyam and Angakulangara
Bhagavathy theyyam.
The shrine is mainly open on Sankranti day in a month as per
traditional Malayalam calendar. The main deity is worshipped in traditional chathura
sreekovil – square sanctum sanctorum. Other deities are worshipped under trees
and atop small raised square platforms.
