Puralimala Chithrapeedam Madappura temple is located at Puralimala in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Muthappan and Thiruvappana. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival at Puralimala Chithrapeedam Madappura temple is held for two days in Malayalam Kumbha Masam – Kumbham 14 and Kumbham 15 (February 26 and Feb 27).
The main deity is worshipped in a chathura sreekovil (square
sanctum sanctorum) which has a traditionally decorated roof. There are other
small sreekovils and square platforms for other deities. Some deities are
worshipped under trees. Sankranti is the most important day in the temple. Vishu
in Medam 1 is an important festival here.
