Machery Poovathatathu Puthiya Bhagavathy temple is located at Macheri near Edakkad in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Puthiya Bhagavathy and other related deities commonly worshipped in sacred places in the region. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for three days in Malayalam Kumbha Masam – Kumbham 5 to Kumbham 7 (February 17 to Feb 19).
The important theyyams that can be witnessed at Machery Poovathatathu Puthiya Bhagavathy temple are Pookkutti Sashtappan, Puthiya Bhagavathy, Puliyoor Kannan, Kuttichathan, Thai Paradevatha theyyam, Thekkan Gulikan, Vishnumoorthi, Veeran theyyam, Veera Kali theyyam, Vayanattu Kulavan theyyam.
The temple has three separate shrines (Chathura Sreekovils) –
square sanctum sanctorum – for various deities. Some deities are worshipped
under trees and atop square platforms. Sankranti in every month is of great
importance here. Vishu is an important festival here.
