Edatkavu Rayaramangalath Madayil Chamundi Devasthanam Temple – Theyyam Kaliyattam Festival

Edatkavu Rayaramangalath Madayil Chamundi Devasthanam temple is located at Edatkavu near Payyannur in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Chamundi. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for two days in Malayalam Kumbha Masam – Kumbham 19 and Kumbham 20 (March 3 and March 4).

The main deities are worshipped in a square sanctum sanctorum – chathura sreekovil. Some deities are worshipped on square platforms which are open to the elements. Certain deities are given space under trees. Vishu is an important festival here. Sankranti in every Malayalam month is of great significance. The roof of the main temple is traditionally decorated.
