Chalathur Kunjjar Kurathiamma temple (ചാലത്തൂര് കുഞ്ഞാര്കുറത്തിയമ്മ ക്ഷേത്രം) is located at Chalathur near Taliparamba in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Kunharu Kurathi Amma. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for two days in Malayalam Kumbha Masam – Kumbham 17 to Kumbham 18 (March 1 to March 2).
The main deities are worshipped in a square sanctum
sanctorum – chathura sreekovil. Some deities are worshipped on square platforms
which are open to the elements. Certain deities are given space under trees.
Vishu is an important festival here. Sankranti in every Malayalam month is of
great significance. The roof of the main temple is traditionally decorated.
