Pullur Varikkattillam Arayaltharaykal Sree Vishnumurthy Temple – Theyyam Kaliyattam Festival

Pullur Varikkattillam Arayaltharaykal Sree Vishnumurthy temple is located at Pulur near Kanhangad in Kasaragod district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Vishnumoorthi (Narasimhamoorthi) and other deities worshiped in tharavadu and kavu in the region. The annual theyyam, kaliyattam and thira festival at Pullur Varikkattillam Arayaltharaykal Shree Vishnumurthy temple is unique with some rare theyyam kolam and is held for three days in Malayalam Meena Masam – Meenam 26 to Meenam 28 (April 9 to April 11).

This is a small shrine with a chathura sreekovil. The other deities are worshiped on square platforms or under trees and in specific places. Pujas are mainly held on Sankranti day. The shrine also observes Vishu.

The main theyyams that are part of the annual theyyam festival are Iratta Kuttichathan, Bhairavan theyyam, Anthi Kuttichathan, Vishnumoorthi theyyam and Raktheswari theyyam.

Melam, pujas and rituals are part of the annual festival.
