Cherukunnu Thekkedam Devasthanam temple is located at Cherukunnu in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to deities that are worshipped in tharavadu and kavu in Kannur region. The annual theyyam kaliyattam thira festival in the temple is held for three days in Meda Masam – Medam 15 to Medam 17 (April 28 to April 30).
The theyyams that are performed in this temple during
kaliyattam festival are Karim Chamundi Theyyam, Naga Kanni Theyyam, Pottan
Theyyam, Gulikan Theyyam, Bhairavan Theyyam, Raktheshwari Theyyam and Vishnumoorthi
theyyam.
The temple has a rectangular sanctum sanctorum with two doors for two separate main deities. Other deities popularly worshipped in Kavu and temples in Kannur region are also worshipped in the temple in small sreekovils and square platforms. Sankranti and Vishu are important days in the temple.
