Padakkaran Theyyam – Story – Information

Padakkaran theyyam is a rare theyyam performed during the annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival in Kasaragod region of Kerala. As per information, this is a male theyyam and a theyyam associated with a particular profession. As per story, Padakkaran theyyam was given a place of worship after his selfless sacrifice. Due to his actions, he attained the status of a Daivakkaru.

This theyyam holds an unusual item in his hands. The thirumudi or headgear the theyyam is also unique.

Padakkaran theyyam is performed at Kanhangad Odayanchal Pakkam Poronthikavu (October 26 and October 27) in Kasaragod region of Kerala.
