Kannur Chala Kottamkunnu Adimuliyadan Temple – Theyyam Festival

Kannur Chala Kottamkunnu Adimuliyadan temple is located at Chala in Kannur, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Adimuliyadan and popular deities that are worshipped in kavu and tharavadu in Kannur region. The annual theyyam kaliyattam thira festival in the temple is held for three days in Makara Masam – Makarm 2, Makaram 3 and Makaram 4 (January 16, January 17 and January 18).

The theyyams that are performed in this temple during kaliyattam festival are Adimuliyadan Daivam theyyam, Karivedan theyyam and Gulikan theyyam.

This is a small traditional Kerala style temple with a decorated small chathura sreekovil. There are no major structures. Other deities popularly worshipped in Kavu and temples in Kannur region are also worshipped in the temple in small sreekovils and square platforms.

The annual festival days are noted various unique pujas and rituals, melam, decoration, music, and traditional temple performing art forms.

Sankranti and Vishu are important days in the temple.
