Pinarayi Kizhakkumbhagam Thayyil Madappura Temple – Theyyam Kaliyattam Festival

Kizhakkumbhagam Thayyil Madappura temple is located near Pinarayi in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Bhagavathy and various other local deities. The main temple is a rectangular structure. The annual theyyam festival is held on Malayalamasam Makaram 13 and Makaram 14 (January 27 and January 28).

This is a typical tharavadu type of temple seen across Kannur district. The main shrines here are chathura sreekovils. The temple also has designated places for other deities.



The shrine observes various rituals and pujas that are part of kavu in this part of the region. Those people of the area going to Sabarimala and other pilgrimage first take the blessing of the deities in the temple

The main theyyams that are performed here are Elladath Bhagavathy, Karanavar, Kandakarnan, Manathana Pothi, Muthappan, Sasthappan or Kuttichathan, Thekkan Gulikan, Thiruvappana, Vasoorimala Theyyam and Vishnu Moorthi.
