Cheloor Subrahmanya Temple – Rare Temple With Round Three Storey Sreekovil

Cheloor Subrahmanya temple is located at Cheloor on Chethukadavu Kuttikatoor Road in Kozhikode district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Subrahmanya Swamy or Murugan. The annual festival in the temple is held in Malayalam Kumbha Masam (February – March) and coincides with the pratishta dinam.

This is a rare Subrahmanya Swamy temple with a round three storey sreekovil or sanctum sanctorum. The temple has shrines of upa devatas but no other major structures.

The annual festival in the temple is famous for procession, various Saiva pujas and rituals, ganapathi homam, navagam, panchagavya, otta kalasham, thalappoli, edumkoorum chavittal, kalampattu, kalam pradakshinam, kavadi and other rituals.

The shrine also observes Thaipooyam and Skanda Sashti. Sashti falling after Amavasya is of great importance in the temple.
