Amba Mata Yantra: Meaning, Benefits and Worship Method

Amba Mata Yantra: How to Worship for Protection and Wish Fulfilment - Benefits

Amba Mata Yantra is a special yantra made for Goddess Ambaji. She is worshipped with great devotion in Gujarat, and her main temple is at Ambaji near Arasur hills in Banaskantha district. This yantra is also called Ambaji Mata Yantra. Devotees believe that it carries the same shakti of the Goddess and gives her blessings to the home where it is kept. It is very famous for fulfilling desires, helping in health problems, and removing fear from the mind.

Who is Goddess Amba

In Hindu belief, Amba is the Divine Mother, one form of Adi Shakti. The word Amba simply means Mother. Ambaji is counted among the 51 Shakti Peethas, the holy places where, as per the Devi Bhagavata and other Puranic texts, parts of Sati Devi fell on earth. At Ambaji, the heart of Sati is believed to have fallen. That is why this place is considered very powerful, and the Goddess here is not worshipped through a murti, but through a sacred Visa Yantra.

What is Yantra and Why It Matters

According to Tantra and Shakta teachings, a yantra is the body of the deity in geometrical form. Where a murti shows the form of the Goddess, a yantra shows her energy. Lines, triangles, circles and lotus petals are drawn in a fixed order, and with mantra and puja, the deity is invited to stay in it. Because of this, a yantra is considered very strong and needs to be treated with respect and cleanliness.

Uniqueness of Amba Mata Yantra

The uniqueness of this yantra is its special shape and arrangement of numbers and bijas. It is based on the famous Visa Yantra of Ambaji temple, which is a very old and secret yantra. In the temple, the Goddess is worshipped only as this yantra, with a gold-plated form kept in a niche. Devotees cannot see any face of the Goddess there. This shows the Shakta idea that the Divine Mother is beyond form, and her energy is the real worship. The home yantra follows this same tradition, so many families in Gujarat and Rajasthan keep it in their puja room.

Benefits of Amba Mata Yantra

Devotees believe the following benefits come from regular worship:

  • Fulfilment of sincere desires and wishes
  • Support in health issues and recovery from long illness
  • Removal of fear, worry and mental weakness
  • Protection from negative energy and evil eye
  • Peace and harmony in the family
  • Success in work, business and studies
  • Courage in difficult times

These are matters of faith, and results come with devotion, patience and good karma.

Ideal Material and Size

Amba Mata Yantra can be made in different materials:

  • Copper: Very common and affordable, good for daily worship at home. Copper holds energy well.
  • Silver: Pure and cooling, good for those who want long-term worship.
  • Gold plated or gold: Used by those who can afford it, mostly for special puja rooms or business places.
  • Bhojpatra or paper: Used for temporary or special vow puja, but needs very careful keeping.

For home use, the size of 3 inch by 3 inch up to 6 inch by 6 inch is considered good. A smaller yantra is easy to carry and keep, while a bigger one is suitable for a puja room or shop. The most important point is that the lines should be clear, deep and correctly made. A wrongly made yantra will not give result.

Pran Pratishtha Before Worship

Before use, the yantra should be energised through pran pratishtha by a learned pandit or by the devotee himself if he knows the vidhi. This is done with Ganga jal, panchamrit, mantra chanting and offering of flowers. Without this step, the yantra is only a metal plate.

When to Worship

  • Navratri is the best time. All nine days are very powerful for Devi worship.
  • Ashtami and Purnima of every month, especially Bhadarvi Purnima, are very special at Ambaji.
  • Fridays and Tuesdays are also good days for Mata worship.
  • Brahma Muhurta (early morning, around 4 to 6 AM) or sunrise is the ideal time. Evening after sunset is also accepted.

How to Worship

  1. Take bath and wear clean clothes, preferably red or yellow.
  2. Clean the puja place and put a red cloth. Keep the yantra on it, facing east or north.
  3. Light a ghee diya and incense stick.
  4. Offer kumkum, red flowers, akshat (rice), and a little sweet like sugar or khir.
  5. Chant the mantra: “Om Aim Hreem Kleem Amba Devyai Namah”, or the simple “Om Ambaye Namah”.
  6. Recite Durga Saptashati, Devi Kavach or Ambaji Aarti if possible.
  7. End with aarti and ask forgiveness for any mistake.

How Long to Worship

Chant the mantra 108 times daily using a rudraksha or red chandan mala. Continue for 40 days (one mandala) for a specific wish. For regular blessings, a short daily puja of 10 to 15 minutes is enough. During Navratri, devotees may increase chanting to 1,008 times or more as per capacity.

Important Rules

  • Keep the yantra in a clean place, never on the floor.
  • Do not touch it with unclean hands.
  • Avoid non-vegetarian food and alcohol on worship days.
  • Worship with faith and a pure mind, and do not use the yantra for harming anyone.

Amba Mata Yantra is a simple but very powerful way to connect with Goddess Ambaji. With proper pran pratishtha, correct method and sincere bhakti, devotees believe that the Divine Mother removes fear, gives health, and fulfils the wishes of her children. The most important thing is trust in Maa Amba, because she is always ready to protect those who call her with a pure heart.
