Krishna Janmashtami festival is an important day at Kamakhya Devi temple. Manani puja is performed at night at the Maha peetha of Devi Kamakhya with naivedya and boli puja. The puja is performed at midnight on Sri Krishna Jayanti day. The bhog or food offering consists of several fruits, sweets including payash. There are no sacrifice on Janmashtami day.
The temple is opened after the midnight puja for darshan and payash is distributed to devotees as Prasad.
