Manathala Nagayakshi Temple – Ayilyam Festival

Manathala Nagayakshi temple is located at Manathala near Chavakkad in Thrissur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Nagas or Serpents. The annual Ayilyam festival in Kanni Masam is of great importance in the temple. Manathala Nagayakshi temple Ayilyam festival date is September 22.

In the temple, Sri Nagayakshi and Nagaraja are worshipped in the same sanctum sanctorum or sreekovil. The shrine is also famous for its grove with rare trees, herbs and plants.

The upa devatas worshipped in the temple are Goddess Bhadrakali, Vishnumaya Swamy and Sri Muthappan.

The Ayilyam nakshatra festival is famous for Sarpabali, Naga puja, Ayilyam puja, Sarp Sooktha pushpanjali and palum noorum.

The annual Shivratri festival in the temple is famous for Nagakalangal. It is performed for two weeks.
