Perumon Vadakkedathu Temple

Perumon Vadakedathu temple is located at Panayam – Perumon in Kollam district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Bhagavan Sri Krishna. The annual festival in Vadakkedathu temple is held in Malayalam Dhanu Masam (December – February). Ashtami Rohini is an important festival in the temple.

This is a traditional style Kerala temple and it has an east facing chathura sreekovil. The temple has a chuttambalam, namaskara mandapam, kodimaram and shrines of upa devatas. Scenes from the life of Sri Krishna can be seen on the walls of the temple.  

Ashtami Rohini festival in Chingamasam is of great importance in the shrine. The utsava murti of Bhagavan is taken atop chariot as part of the procession. Various Vaishnava pujas, rituals and festivities are part of the Krishna Janmashtami festival.

Vishu, Ramayana Masam, Thiruvonam Nakshatra on all months of Malayalam, Ekadashi every fortnight, Ashtami Rohini and Thrikarthika are important festivals in the temple.

The annual festival in the temple is famous for Vaishnava temple pujas and rituals including homam, abhishekam, nirmalayam, pallivetta etc. The annual festival which begins kodiyettam concludes with arattu ceremony. Kerala temple art forms, music, and melam are part of the annual festival.
