Vadakkumthala Panayannarkavu Devi Temple – Festival

Vadakkumthala Panayannarkavu Devi temple is located at Vadakkumthala near Karunagappally in Kollam district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathy or Devi. The annual festival in the temple is held in Malayalam Meena Masam (March – April). The most important day is the Meena Bharani day.

This is small typical Kerala style temple with a kodimaram (flag pole), chuttambalam, namaskara mandapam and shrines of upa devatas. The temple has a chathura sreekovil.

The sankalpam of Goddess is here that of Bhadrakali.

The annual festival in the temple is famous for colorful ezhunellippu atop a caparisoned elephant, procession, Tantric pujas and rituals, and performing art forms of Kerala.

The temple also observes Navratri and Thrikarthika.
