Punalur Bharanikkavu Devi Temple – Meena Bharani Festival

Punalur Bharanikkavu Bhadra Devi temple is located at Nedumkayam near Punalur in Kollam district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali. The annual festival in the temple is held in Meena Masam (March – April) and the festival coincides with the Meena Bharani day.

This is a traditional Kerala style temple located atop a hill. The shrine has a nalambalam, namaskara mandapam, chathura sreekovil and shrines of upa devatas. Nagaraja pratishta is found under a peepal tree.

The annual festival is famous for various pujas and rituals including homam, abhishekam, kalasham etc. Temple art forms, melam, and ezhunnallathu are part of the annual festival. The thidambu of devi is taken around atop a caparisoned elephant.
