Peruman Mahavishnu temple is located at Pavithram near Kazhakootam in Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala. This is beautiful temple is dedicated to Bhagvan Vishnu. The annual festival in the temple is held in Malayalam Meena Masam. The most important day during the annual festival is the Rohini Nakshatra is known as Meena Rohini utsavam.
The temple has a round two-tier sanctum
sanctorum – vatta sreekovil. A standing murti of Vishnu is worshipped in this
east facing sreekovil. There are shrines of upa devatas. The temple also has
mural paintings around the sreekovil. The shrine is complete with a namaskara
mandapam and chuttambalam.
The annual festival is famous for
Vaishnava pujas and rituals. Melam, procession, ezhunnallathu and performing art
forms are part of the festival.
