Paravur Koonayil Ayiravilly Shiva Temple – Festival

Paravur Ayiravilly Shiva Temple is located at Koonayil near Pavaroor in Kollam district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Mahadevar. The annual Prathishta dinam in the temple is held in Kumbha Masam. Maha Shivratri is another important festival here.

The temple has a sacred grove or kavu with rare herbs, shrubs and trees. The kavu also has ancient pon.

The annual festival in the temple is famous for nedum kuthirayeduppu.

There are three main shrines in the temple. All shrines have chathura sreekovil. One shrine is without a roof. Several upa devatas are worshipped in the temple compound.
