Nedumkunnam Bhadrakali Temple – Festival

Nedumkunnam Bhadrakali temple is located at Nedumkunnam on Nedumkunnam-Punnaveli road in Kottayam district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali or Devi. The annual festival in the temple is held on Pooram nakshatra day in Meena masam (March – April). Another festival is held on Meda Masam pooram nakshatra day.

This is a typical Kerala style temple with a chathura sreekovil, kodimaram (flag pole), nalambalam, namaskara mandapam and shrines of upa devatas.

Various tantric pujas and rituals are part of the annual festival. Traditional temple art forms, ezhunnallathu, melam and procession are part of the annual festival. The Thidambu of Bhagavathi is taken out during procession.

The temple also observes various other festivities including pratishta dinam, Navratri and Thrikarthika in vrischika masam.
