Kuttanassery Kilikkurussi Kavu Durga Temple – Festival

Kuttanassery Kilikkurussi Kavu Durga temple is located at Kuttanassery near Sreekrishnapuram in Palakkad district, Kerala. The annual pratishta festival in the temple is held in Kumbha Masam. The annual Vela festival in the temple is held during Meena Bharani day in Meena Masam. This is an ancient shrine dedicated to Goddess Durga Bhagavathy.

This is a traditional Kerala temple located near the Kunthipuzha. The sankalpam of Mother Goddess Devi here is that of Vana Durga. The temple has a kodimaram (flag pole), chuttambalam, chathura sreekovil and namaskara mandapam.

The 7-day annual pratishta festival begins with kodiyettam in Meena Masam. The various rituals in the temple include Bhagavata Saptaham, Prasada oottu, traditional Kerala temple art forms, Vriksha pooja, Sangeetha archana, Guru Puja, Vidya Gopala Mantra Archana, Aadrayanam, niramala, chuttu vilakku nadi puja, Mathru pooja and Sarpa pradarshanam. The festival concludes with the arattu ceremony.

Navratri with ezhuthiniruthu and Thrikarthika are the other important festivals here.

The Vishu Kani Darshanam (April 14 or April 15) is an important event in the temple.

The shrine observes the annual Karkidaka Vavu Bali day with various rituals and pujas for forefathers. Hundreds of people participate in the Pitru Tarpanam.
