Azhikode Neerkadavu Koorumba Temple - Theyyam Thira Kaliyattam Festival

Azhikode Thekkumbhagam Neerkadavu Sri Kurumba Bhagavathi temple is located at Neerkadavu Azhikode South in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Koorumba Bhagavathy. The annual festival in the temple is held from Kumbha 16 to Kumbham 30 (February 28 to March 4). Maha Shivratri in Kumbha Masam (February – March) is an important festival in the temple.

The annual festival in the temple is famous for Theyyam. Vishnumoorthi Theyyam, Gulikan Theyyam and Thee Chamundi or Ottakolam is performed in the shrine. The Thee Chamundi ritual is performed once in 25 years.

The temple is located facing the Arabian Sea.

This is a small temple with a chathura sreekovil – square sanctum sanctorum. The shrine has a decorated roof with traditional motifs. There are other smaller sreekovils. Certain deities are worshipped atop square platforms and under trees. Important pujas are performed here on Sankranti day which falls in the middle of a month as per Malayalam calendar.
