Pezhumthuruthu Sreedevi Temple – Festival – Gajamela

Pezhumthuruthu Sreedevi temple is located at on the island of Pezhumthuruthu located between Munroe Island (Munroe thuruthu) and Perumon in Kollam district, Kerala. The shrine is located amidst beautiful locale and is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi.

The small temple is a typical example of Kerala style architecture. The square-shaped sanctum sanctorum has the beautiful murti Goddess Sreedevi.

The shrine has a kodimaram and kalvilakku in the front. On the side there is a huge peepal tree. The temple compound also has a big palm tree.

There are also subsidiary deities worshipped in the temple with separate small shrines.

The temple is famous for the Gajamela – caparisoned elephant parade.
