Nambiarkunnu Sree Bala Subramanya Swamy Temple

Nambiarkunnu Sree Bala Subramanya Swamy temple is located at Nambiar Kunnu in Wayanad district, Kerala. The temple is around 15 km from Sulthan Bathery. The Sankalpam of Muruga in the temple is that of Bala or child form.

Thaipooya mahotsavam or Thaipooyam festival in Makaram month in the temple is the most famous festival in the region. The annual festival attracts hundreds of devotees from nearby towns and villages.

The festival is famous for colorful Kavadis and temple music like chenda melam and nadaswaram. The festival concludes with a colorful procession which has various different types of kavadis and tableau.

This small shrine has a round sanctum sanctorum or vatta sreekovil with a murti of Subrahmanya holding vel in standing position.

Devotees also visit the temple in large numbers on Sashti fasting day, Fridays, Skanda Sashti and during Thrikarthika.
