Kandamangalam Rajarajeshwari Temple – Information – Festival

Kandamangalam Rajarajeshwari temple is located at Kadakkarappally in Cherthala, Alappuzha district, Kerala. This beautiful temple is dedicated to Goddess Rajarajeshwari. This is a huge temple with beautiful Kerala temple architecture.

The Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple are Shiva, Ganapati and Muruga (Subrahmanya).

The temple has a beautiful two-tiered square sanctum sanctorum – chathura sreekovil. The outer walls are noted for its carvings.

The annual festival in the temple is observed on the Meena Bharani day. Other important festivals in the temple are Thaipooyam, Mahashivratri, Pongala, Vinayaka Chaturthi, Navratri and Thrikarthika.

The shrine is associated with Sri Narayana Guru Devan and SNDP.

The annual festival is famous for traditional temple arts and music (melam), caparisoned elephants and procession. Temple rituals like sarpa bali, utsava bali, pallivetta and arattu are part of the festival.

Kalamezhuthum pattum is held in May month and annual prathishta dinam is held in July month.
