Monthly Karthigai Viratham is observed when Karthigai Nakshatra (birth star) fall in a month. It is dedicated to Muruga. Below is the Krithigai Vratham dates in 2024 dates. The puja is performed by lighting a ghee lamp made out of flour and jaggery. Incense sticks, aarti, fruit, turmeric, milk and bhasma are offered to Lord Muruga. Prayers like Subrahmanya Kavacham and Kanda Sashti Kavacham are chanted. The fast is performed from sunrise to sunset.
