Nayarambalam Shankara Narayana Temple – Deity – Festival

Nayarambalam Shankara Narayana temple is located on Vypin-Pallipuram Road at Nayarambalam, Kochi, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to the combined form of Shiva and Vishnu (Shankaranarayana). The main subsidiary deity worshipped in the temple is Ganapati.

The main murti worshipped in the temple is a perfect amalgamation of Shiva and Vishnu.

The annual festival in the temple is held in Dhanu Masam (December – January). The pallivetta ritual in the temple is famous and is held on Makam nakshatra in Dhanu Masam. The main festival or utsavam is held two days later on Uthram nakhshatram.

The fortnightly Ekadashi and Pradosham are of equal importance in the temple. Shivratri, Janmashtami and other Shaiva and Vaishnava festivals are held with equal importance in the temple.

This is a small shrine and the architecture is similar to the regular Kerala temples.
