Velloor Perunthatta Shiva Temple – History – Facts

Velloor Perunthatta Shiva temple is located near Velloor newsprint factory in Kottayam district in Kerala. The temple is atop a small hill. The shrine is one among the 108 Shiva temples in Kerala.

The Shivling worshipped in the temple is unusually big. The darshanam of Velloor Perunthatta Shiva temple is towards east.

The Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple is Sri Krishna.

The main festival observed in the temple is Mahashivratri. Mondays are considered auspicious to offer prayers here. Pradosham is another important day in the temple.

As per local history, the temple belonged to Chalapurathu Mana. The shrine is currently management by a committee formed by local people.
